My parents are in town, it was a planned visit. So we took Burton to Disney's Magic Kingdom Fri. night when he got out of the Dr.'s office and napped. He really enjoyed it. It beat being coped up in a room for 24 hrs.

So this is what's going on with Burton. His EEG showed high spiking when he was sleeping. Which means he's having what they called partial seizures. He's brain is firing at the same time all over the brain (it's going crazy) but he's not having the physical signs of a seizure just the brain activity of one. So they put him on Keppra so we'll see how that goes with side effects, etc. He has a follow up in April unless we notice the seizures then he'll go back. They couldn't tell us how long this had been going on or if it just started but they did say we probably saw the physical signs of a mini seizure because he was sick, had a fever and was over tired. So I guess this is a blessing knowing and getting him on med.'s to try to prevent more in the future.

Well we're having a HELL of a year and I mean HELL. Since Burton's been home from the hospital he had a mini seizure. We called and took him into the ped. office, Wed., they sent us to the neurologist office to have a EEG done, his first on Thurs. and we got the call last night "things don't look good you need to come in tomorrow, Fri. So our apt. is at 2 and we'll see what's going to happen.

Burton was back in the hospital this past week. Thankfully it was only 2 nights this time. We brought him into Florida East, the hospital about 15 min. from the house Sat. afternoon with clear fluid being discharged from his ear on his shunt side. We were hoping for an ear infection but after being there for 6 hours and having a CT and shunt series of x-rays done they told us he had mastoiditis and were going to transfer us to Florida Children's. Burton had his first ambulance ride, he liked it with all the lights on :) So we are home and on 3 different medicines for the next 10 days.
